Task: to develop IOS and Android mobile applications for the “Electrolux Home Comfort” smart home system.

Client: Electrolux is a Swedish manufacturer of household and professional appliances.

Description

The “Electrolux Home Comfort” app controls air conditioning, floor heating, heating, hot water tanks and humidifiers. Instead of several remote controls, there is one application that controls different devices and clearly displays the their operation status. If you have a remote control at hand and you use it to change settings, everything gets synchronized in the application.
While developing we used native languages and development environments: Android Studio and Xcode. Therefore, the application is more stable and faster than if cross-platform solutions used.

Like a remote control, but more convenient and designed for all devices at once

The application can do everything like a standard remote control for every connected device can: control modes, set required temperature and humidity, connect various options, set time, turn on the alarm and timer, adjust the backlight, power, etc. In this case there is no need to be near the devices to control them.

The upper part of the display displays average air temperature, floor temperature and humidity in the house. The parameters get changed depending on the heating and humidity modes settings.

It is possible to set individual floor heating, air and humidity modes for each room where the devices are located.

The application supports both simple and deeper control logic. For floor, air and water heating modes, there are maximum and minimum temperature restrictions. If setting humidity for some modes it is impossible to enable or disable additional options; for a water heater in the "Economy" mode: other settings are not available.

Family access has been implemented: you can log into one application account from different devices at the same time. Information on all devices is updated and synchronized in real time.

Geolocation capabilities were used to create new functions and modes. For example, users can set the device to turn on in an apartment if they are less than two kilometers away from the place. In case of emergency situations or loss of connection with any device, the application sends a Push notification to the phone.

A wide range of options and settings are available for each supported device.

Simple and convenient heated floors control.

To integrate the “warm floor” with the Electrolux smart home system, we designed a Wi-Fi module for the “Thermotronic Smart” thermostat and included heated floor control options into the “Electrolux Home Comfort” application.

The application makes it possible to configure floor operating modes with one single touch. The application provides an option to block manual control for protection against accidental temperature changes on the thermostat.

For each room the temperature mode can be set separately. To make it convenient for the user to select a comfortable floor temperature, the current floor and air temperature is displayed for each room.

To prevent damage to the floor from heating and cooling the type of coating can be chosen. After selecting the floor covering, the application sets an optimal heating mode for it.

If the underfloor heating is not made by Electrolux, the user can visit the “Selecting a temperature sensor” section and select the required resistance for the heated floor system. You can also select the sensor control type: floor sensor, air sensor or floor and air sensor.

Scheduled operation.

The app has interesting and useful options, such as "Calendar", "Vacation" and "Power consumption"

Using simple settings on the calendar panel, the user can set required temperature settings for underfloor heating or electric heating for each day of the week. The setting can be the same every day, or different as well: during the week, another on weekends or individual for each day. The temperature control can be adjusted not only by day, but also by hour.

The “Vacation” option is not less interesting than others. Using this option, you can set the temperature during your absence. To do this, you just need to mark the days of vacation or business trips in the option settings in the calendar and enable the “Vacation” option before leaving.

Connecting and configuring these options allows you to save energy. The devices will operate in the specified mode until any change. If necessary, you can change the temperature modes for any day or hour.

The "Energy consumption" option makes it possible to control the energy consumption of the underfloor heating. All you need is to set electricity tariffs and device power in the settings, and the graph will display the consumption in kW. and in calculated costs per day, week or month.

Humidifier control through the mobile app.

For an air humidifier, it is possible: to select a comfortable device operating mode for: night, children's, yoga, immunostimulating, etc.; to set an individual humidity mode for each room where the humidifier is located. In this case the average humidity level in the house will be displayed at the top of the application panel.

The user can set the desired humidity parameters only when they turn on the “Manual” mode; if activating other modes, setting is not possible.

Several options are located at the bottom of the panel and are turned on (off) by buttons: two-level backlight, air ionization, warm steam and ultraviolet lamp. Once certain modes are enabled, some options are blocked (disappear from the control panel). So, when you turn on the “Baby” or “Health” mode, warm steam and ultraviolet lamp options are activated automatically; they are provided by the mode itself and cannot be turned off.

In the options settings, you can change the backlight mode, set the intensity and duration of lights and the time they switch.

It is possible to set the time on the humidifier display clock, turn on alarm and timer. Using the timer settings, set the time for turning on and off, use the timer for yoga.
